Course Registration

Welcome to the PBTP 2024 registration process. Please read all registration instructions below prior to registering.

 

Once registration has been completed, please view and complete the "post-registration checklist" at the bottom of the screen, and download the "Daily Checklist" for reference.
 

Course Dates: May 20-24, 2024

Registration Instructions

***A credit card or debit card is required to register for the course.

  1. Access registration (button below)

  2. Registration questions will populate on screen. Fill out all required fields. Scroll to the bottom of the screen when complete and click, “Add to cart” in the lower right-hand portion of the screen.
    ***Page advancement will always be located in the lower right-hand portion of the screen.

  3. You will be directed to a second page with two options:

    • “Continue” allows you to proceed to the payment page.

    • “Keep shopping” allows you to add additional registrations that will be paid from the same credit/debit card. After all registrations are complete, you will select “continue” to proceed to the payment page.

  4. You will be directed to the third page which requires credit/debit card information. This must be entered before you can click the “Continue” button.

  5. You will be directed to the fourth and final page where you will enter your email address at which you would prefer to receive registration confirmation. You will also have the opportunity to review the registration summary, credit/debit card information and complete your purchase. To complete your registration payment, click “Pay $950” in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.

International Travelers

If traveling from outside of the United States, please send your passport number and country of origin to myself, Lindsey Ashmore at lashmore@ksu.edu; eventmorellc@outlook.com. This will allow our security team to prepare for your arrival.

Daily Security

Visitors are required to present a valid passport, official US state issued driver’s license, or state ID card each time you check-in at the Biosecurity Research Institute security desk. You will not be admitted to the facility without presenting photo ID on a daily basis. 

Daily Transportation

The course begins Monday morning, May 20, at 8:00 AM. Kansas State University vehicles will provide transportation from the Courtyard by Marriott hotel to the Biosecurity Research Institute (BRI) each morning and return to the hotel each afternoon. The vehicles will depart the Hotel at 7:30 a.m. to allow time for check in at the BRI security desk prior to the course start at 8:00 a.m. These vehicles will also provide transportation for scheduled evening events for the entire week.

 

***If you plan to drive a personal or rental vehicle to the BRI, please let Lindsey know at lashmore@ksu.edu; eventmorellc@outlook.com as soon as possible to prepare BRI Security for your arrival. There are limited parking spots available. If you do not already have a KSU parking permit, you can purchase a weekly permit here:

Special Accommodations

To ensure that your time here is enjoyable, please inform us if you require special accommodations, have food allergies or other distinct requirements that may impact your visit.

Dietary Considerations

Meals and snack breaks are provided throughout the course. Please inform us if you have any dietary considerations such as: food allergies, lactose intolerance, diabetes, celiac disease, etc.  Also, please inform us if you observe Kosher, Halal, Hindu, vegetarian or vegan dietary practices. 

Attire

Business casual is the standard for all course activities. Be sure to bring comfortable clothes and walking shoes for a relaxing stroll through the Konza Prairie on Monday evening.

Weather

The weather in Manhattan at this time of year is very pleasant with moderate daytime temperatures (20 – 30 oC or ~68 – 84 oF) and cool nighttime temperatures (10 – 16 oC or ~50 – 62 oF). Bring a hat and/or umbrella as rain is always a possibility in mid-spring.

OPTIONAL CONTAINMENT ENTRY EXPERIENCE

Optional Containmet Anchor

All persons participating in the containment experience on Wednesday and Thursday of the event will be REQUIRED to:

  • Remove ALL jewelry, including body piercings, of the entire body.
    NOTE: Prescription eyeglasses may be worn in containment. A surface decontamination procedure will be used prior to exit.

  • Remove ALL personal clothing - BRI laboratory clothing will be provided before entering containment

  • All participants MUST shower out of the lab, including complete hair-wash with provided shampoo

NOTE: Containment entry/exit is through individualized change rooms and shower blocks.
